The idea originated in Taiwan, where the world’s very first cat café opened in 1998. Japan followed suit in 2004 and the first cat cafe in the US opened in 2014.

A cat lounge/cafe is a classic café with the difference that cats stay in the guest room. The cats can move freely, and they have sleeping places, toys and retreats. The cats’ food and litter pans are kept in a separate room inaccessible to public, which also serves as a retreat for overwhelmed kitties who need some quiet time.

The goal of a Cat Cafe is to provide a fun, cage-free, low stress place for adoptable cats and cat lovers to meet and socialize. People can come to enjoy a nice time with the cats, have coffee, snacks, and in some cases adopt a kitty!

This will vary and will be dependent upon active adoptions and availability through our shelters/rescues. For the comfort of our cats and our guests, our maximum number of cats in residence at a time is ten (although we will usually house around 8). All cats are fully vetted (vaccinated, spayed/neutered, dewormed, leukemia negative, and sometimes microchipped) and ready to be adopted!

Yes! All the cats living here are searching for their purrfect home. Our cats come from a variety of backgrounds from stray colonies to owner surrenders. Our wonderful partnering rescues take them in and vet them before sending them our way.

Not currently looking to adopt? No problem! Just by being in the cat room, you are helping to socialize the kitties and support the mission of the lounge. You love cats, the cats love attention, and the extra attention helps the cats find loving homes. And when we say 'happy trails' to one kitty, we welcome a new one!

Unfortunately, we are not an intake facility and we do not possess the proper permits to accept cats directly. All of our cats must be fully vetted, spayed/neutered and vaccinated before arriving at the cafe.

We realize there is an abundant need for intake resources. We recommend reaching out to all of the local rescues in your area to see if any of them are able to assist.

Please, NO! We will have plenty that will want your undivided attention.

That depends on the kind of experience you want. If you want a more playful experience, schedule to come during our opening hours. The cats are typically most active the opening hour until the middle of the afternoon.

All visits are different, as we do not expect our cats to perform at all hours of the day. They do need their 12-18 hours of sleep per day after-all! (Note: we close for 1-2 hours mid-day to allow for cat naptime and rejuvenation - check hours for more details)

There are always a few cats up and active. If you want to share the room with less people, a weekday visit is usually best. Weekends typically book up pretty quickly!

We allow guests of all ages! Parents are expected to closely monitor their children while in the cat room to be sure all rules are being follow including no roughhousing, loud shouting, running/chasing cats or throwing objects. Non-walking infants must be held or kept in a stroller/carrier while visiting. All children under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult in the cat room. For the safety of our cats and small humans, we strongly enforce the rules of the cat room and may ask guests to leave (without refund) if they are not adhering to these rules. The cafe is a family-friendly space, and we encourage you to bring your children for the experience!

We don't require reservations, but they are highly encouraged, especially on weekends. We can only accommodate up 6-7 guests at a time, so space in our cat lounge is very limited. Booking a reservation is the only way we can guarantee your visit without a wait.

Parking spaces are limited at our storefront (limited to 2 hours on weekdays). There is additional parking reserved only for customers in the private spaces to the right of our building, or public access parking is provided in the lot across the street.

Yes! We offer “Book the Room” reservations for small group activities such as birthday gatherings, girls’ nights, etc. We also host special events such as “Paint Night with Cats” and “Happy Meowur” (follow us on our social media pages for dates). We look forward to bringing more unique and cat-tastic events, such as Kiddy Story Time with Cats!

Not sure about this whole cat thing? We won't judge! Our space is divided! Half Cat Lounge, half Coffeehouse! We have spaces inside our cafe where you can watch the kitty entertainment. Come hang out anytime!

Our cafe offers a diverse menu of beverages (check out our menu under “The Cafe” tab) and local baked goods! Work (we offer free WiFi), socialize or relax at one of our bench, sofa or bar top seating areas. Pick up a fresh, local bakery item and sip on something yummy while you're here!
